We also know how the many of the local merchants talk about the tourists, they are very sweet to you to your face when they are taking your money but talk about you when you leave. They really do not appreciate visitors from other areas. Having moved here from another state, I have also had to put up with their disapproval of me and from what others say who have also moved here, so have they. These are not the nicest people in the world. And certainly not the brightest. Of course, that is our opinion but who else do you know that would not support their Farmers' Market or their local farmers, period? Why would they try to close down local businesses like the market and the flea market they are also trying to close? God only knows who they will go after next.
Their only pathetic claim to fame, as you will see on their signs entering the city is that they are, "The Gateway to Mammoth Cave." That's not much to claim. If it was me, and I wanted to visit Mammoth Cave, I wouldn't stay anywhere near Cave City. There are other places to go. I live in Horse Cave and it is a nice place although very small but the people are a lot nicer. Glasgow is also a nice place and is pretty big with much more to offer. It is where the market is located now and the people are overjoyed to have us there. It feels good to be around nice people. There are a few people in Cave City we will miss, but not the merchants on the board that worked together to get rid of the market. Or anyone who won't speak up for decency in their city. I have no use for people who just sit and take stuff.
