Maintaining your floor

When your home was first built, certain provisions were allowed for extra weight areas of the home. If you intended to have a waterbed for example, you might have discussed this with your retailer and the appropriate measures were taken to assure that this area of your home had extra support.

If you decide to add something very heavy to your home after it is built, you will need to make sure it has the proper support in the area it will be located.

You can contact a local contractor to inquire about the extra support needed. If you are a relatively competent carpenter you could do this yourself, however, it is a good idea to check with your local building codes before starting the work.
