Maintaining your porcelain surfaces

If not cared for properly, surfaces with porcelain enamel baked onto steel, such as kitchen sinks, bath tubs or working surfaces, may become pitted or porous.

Soap or liquid cleaners will keep them clean. Chlorine bleach usually removes any stains or discolorations that occur.

Porcelain enamel should be protected from extreme heat. A hot pad or wire rack should be used for hot utensils and placed between them and the porcelain surface.

If it becomes necessary to patch chipped or broken porcelain, you can usually obtain the materials at a hardware or paint store.
