The Benefits of Paintball

SAFETY

As long as rules are enforced and followed, paintball is safer than contact sports like football and soccer. You eliminate opponents from a distance and there is no bodily contact involved. BUT, paintball is even safer than golf - another non-contact sport!

TEAMWORK AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS

Paintball teaches a valuable lesson in teamwork. Together, a team can help each other overcome problems. In the process of playing a game, problems can arise such as marker problems or getting surrounded and have to depend on your teammates to come help you if possible. A team can work together to learn from mistakes, make plans and strategies based on their knowledge of each other's abilities and learn how to coordinate these abilities together to have successful results. Corporations have been known to send their employees to play paintball to strengthen teamwork. They have also found that it relieves stress and agression as well. It doesn't take long before a new team figures out that it has to learn to work together to get the best results.

LEADERSHIP SKILLS

Whether you are a leader of a temporary team for one game or the leader of your own team you will learn much about responsibility for your decisions. Much satisfaction can come from knowing your team and getting the most from them. Even if you lose, you will feel good knowing that they all did their best - because of decisions you made based on your knowledge. You will also feel good knowing that they look to you for direction and trust your decisions.

SOCIAL SKILLS

Paintball helps children and adults to learn how to interact with others. Most fields have rules, and enforce them, that do not allow unsportsmanlike behavior. To stay in the game you must learn how to deal with others courteously. Having sportsmanlike manners doesn't mean you can't have fun. It assures that you DO have fun. You can't have much fun when half the time everyone is in a fight. Also, some young people have trouble communicating with adults. The adults in paintball can help them develop their skills by listening and talking to them. They understand what it is to be a "newbie" and won't think their questions are stupid. (Even a 50 year old can be new to the game!)

EXERCISE

There's a lot to be said for anything that gets you up and moving, away from the TV, Video Games or computer that you will also enjoy. Getting out into the fresh air, in the company of others with the same interests and sharing a great experience can really do a lot to make the word "exercise" mean "fun." Walking, jogging, sliding, crawling and even running are no longer just something you SHOULD do but something you WANT to do!

FUN!

The game of paintball is exactly that - a GAME. It's a game about winning AND losing - and having the time of your life in the process. It's about being with your friends - and making new friends. It's about learning how to work with others - and about learning more about yourself. It builds self-esteem, confidence and responsibility. Most of all - it's about having FUN.
