The Ready Campaign is designed to educate and empower Americans
to prepare for and respond to emergencies, including natural disasters
and potential terrorist attacks.
What's the fastest, easiest way to winterize the water lines
between cold weather visits in our vacation home?

You can do it by blowing out the lines.
You would have to put valves on the ends of the pipes farthest from the inlet,
drain the hot
water heater and put R.V. anti freeze in the toilets and sink traps.
I would think you would have to leave the heat on to at least 50
degrees in the
home, in which case I would suggest putting heat tape on the water lines
to keep them from freezing and not worry about blowing out the lines. The other
option is to antifreeze all the water lines and static water areas.
The fastest, easiest way is with the heat tapes on the water lines.
